Shinkansen + Express Bus from Nagano — Happo BT Has the Most Stops
The most popular route from Tokyo to Hakuba: take the Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Nagano Station (~1 hr 20 min), then catch an express bus from Nagano to Hakuba (~1 hr).
The express bus from Nagano makes several stops in Hakuba, but Happo Bus Terminal has the most frequent service because it's the transport hub of the village.
This means:
- Step off the Nagano bus → arrive at Happo BT → walk straight to your nearby hotel, no transfer needed
